The recent Supreme Court decision in the case Kelo v. City of New London not only abolishes the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment, but will have real impacts on environmental protection.

ESA Reform Victory In U.S. House

The Council of Republicans for Environmental Advocacy (CREA) today applauded the passage of Chairman Richard Pombo's Threatened and Endangered Species Recovery Act (TESRA) by the U.S. House of Representatives as a monumental step in fixing deficiencies of the Endangered Species Act (ESA). For too long, the ESA has been weighted towards listing species as 'endangered,' but not providing the tools to help them recover. TESRA encourages landowners to protect species, rather than fear that the federal government will take control of their land if an endangered species is found.
